Copy writing
Throughout his professional career, writing has been Ry's bread and butter. It was where he started — as a reporter with the Brampton Daily Times and Conservator — and it is where he continued through the Vancouver Sun to the CBC TV NewsCentre — and beyond. Much of his work is still copywriting.Copy editing, page design and web capability
Ry has worked as a copy editor at the Vancouver Sun, the Province and the Times Colonist where he most enjoyed working on deadline with great reporters who knew editing was required but were too close to the job to know what to do. All that he learned working for these newspapers he brings to your projects along with a top-notch Macintosh publishing system equipped with Quark Xpress, In Design, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.Speechwriting
Ry has written a number of speeches for various people. He learned most about writing for the spoken word from TV anchorman Bill Good, while working as a Senior Writer at the CBC TV Newscentre in Vancouver."Don't hand me any copy," Bill said, "until you've read it out loud to yourself and know that it works."
Needless to say, before Ry hands a draft of any speech back to a client, it has been well read — out loud.
